Brakes feeling different immediately after replacement is normal and expected. New pads need a bedding in period of several hundred kilometers of varied braking before they reach optimal performance and a good technician explains this before returning the car. If nobody mentions it ask specifically because knowing what to expect makes the first few days after the job much less concerning.
