GuestI am asking because my Audi has recently started feeling a little different during normal driving, but I am not sure if I am overthinking it or if it is something worth having checked. The car still drives normally most of the time, and there is no loud noise or major problem, but I have noticed that some gear changes feel slightly less smooth than they used to. It is most noticeable when I am driving slowly through traffic and then start accelerating again. Sometimes the shift feels perfectly normal, while other times there is a small hesitation before the next gear engages. I have also noticed that when I move from reverse into drive after parking, there can be a short pause before the car moves. It is not happening every time, which makes it harder to decide whether I should book an inspection now or simply keep watching it. I searched around to understand what could cause these little changes and came across some information about Certified insight into Audi transmission warning signs, which made me think more carefully about the symptoms instead of waiting for something serious to happen. What I am mainly wondering is how experienced Audi owners deal with these situations. Do you normally get the transmission checked when you first notice a small change, or do you wait until there is a clear warning message or obvious slipping? I know modern cars can sometimes behave differently depending on temperature, traffic, driving mode, or how long the car has been running, so I do not want to assume that every unusual feeling means there is an expensive problem. At the same time, I have heard that ignoring smaller transmission issues can sometimes make repairs more complicated later, especially if the problem gradually gets worse. I would also like to know what a proper inspection should include. Should a mechanic check the transmission fluid, scan for stored fault codes, look at transmission temperature, and take the car for a road test? Or are there other things that should be checked before anyone starts talking about repairs? Another thing I am curious about is whether transmission software or adaptation settings can cause occasional unusual shifting even when there is no mechanical failure. I would rather understand what is actually happening before approving any work. If anyone has dealt with similar behavior in an Audi, how did you handle it and what did the inspection eventually show? I am especially interested in real experiences from owners who noticed small changes early and had them checked before the situation became more serious.
