One thing that interests me about online people search services is how they deal with information that may no longer be current. People move, change phone numbers, update addresses and sometimes have multiple records associated with them. This could make older information confusing if it is presented without context. Has anyone had experience finding outdated details in a people search? How do you normally determine whether the information is still accurate?

Searching for information about a person can produce results from multiple sources, but the accuracy and relevance of those records should not automatically be assumed. Names can be shared by many different people, while addresses or other records may become outdated over time. The discussions at Peoplesmart offer useful context for considering questions about reports, subscriptions, and search results. Anyone using a people-search service should verify important information independently instead of treating an online report as definitive proof about an individual’s current circumstances.
