Gluster CSI driver 1.0.0 (pre) release is out!!

We are pleased to announce v1.0.0 (pre) release of GlusterFS CSI driver. The release source code can be downloaded from github.com/gluster/gluster-csi-driver/archive/1.0.0-pre.0.tar.gz.

Compared to the previous beta version of the driver, this release makes Gluster CSI driver fully compatible with CSI spec v1.0.0 and Kubernetes release 1.13 ( kubernetes.io/blog/2018/12/03/kubernetes-1-13-release-announcement/ )

The CSI driver deployment can be done via deployment ( github.com/gluster/gluster-csi-driver/blob/master/examples/kubernetes/csi-deployment.yaml ) artifacts available in gluster csi driver or via deployment ( github.com/gluster/gcs/tree/master/deploy )artifacts available at GCS repo.

To give some context about GCS, let me quote below from the GCS repo itself.

“As of now, one can already use Gluster as storage for containers by making use of different projects available in GitHub repositories associated with Gluster (especially GlusterD1) & Heketi through gluster-kubernetes . The goal of the GCS initiative is to provide a new stack ( especially with GD2, gluster-csi-driver ) focused on easier integration, much more opinionated bases install, a better upgrade experience to deploy Gluster for container storage. We are primarily focused on integration with Kubernetes (k8s) through this initiative”

Hit GCS repo (github.com/gluster/gcs) for more details on the same.

Please note that, the mentioned CSI driver is based on GD2 stack – for those who are unfamiliar with GD2, GD2 /GlusterD-2.0 (GD2) is a re-implementation of GlusterD. It attempts to have better consistency, scalability and performance when compared with the current GlusterD, while also becoming more modular and easing extensibility.

The CSI driver is capable of provisioning, deleting, mounting and unmounting a volume based on the CSI spec v1.0.0 requests. It’s also capable of snapshotting and restoring a snapshot to a PV!

While we keep on adding features to our CSI driver, we would really appreciate your feedback, test results and other comments about this driver.

Please let us know if you have a question about CSI driver or related projects.

If you face any issues, please open an issue at github.com/gluster/gluster-csi-driver/issues and we appreciate your contributions via pull requests in the same repo .. Eagerly waiting for it….
